🤝 FemTechnology Summit 2023 - What's Going On Behind The Scenes
Impact, Next Steps & How YOU can get Involved!
First off — a huge, huge THANK YOU for your invaluable contribution to making FemTechnology Summit a resounding success! The energy at the Summit was absolutely infectious, could you feel it?
We intend to honour that and carry that momentum forward (and support the work you all are doing) in a variety of ways— but we need YOUR help to carry that forward.
So, what’s in the pipeline ?
COLLABORATIONS
Everyone who responded to our survey will be carrying forward a minimum of 1 concrete collaboration with another participant (many had up to 3)!
That’s what we love to hear! 👏{We’ll be tracking the progress of the collaborations shared with us — so if you have one in the works & haven’t told us about it shoot us a note at contact@femtechnology.org with your name, your collaboration & what you’ll be working on so we can track progress, follow along & help spread the word! }
WHITE-PAPERS
We promised what was discussed at the Summit wouldn’t be lost — and it won’t be! Each Workshop will be publishing a short summary and/or white-paper of what was explored during the session (the facilitators are hard at work on this as we speak!)
The lengthier reports will be released in FALL 2023. The shorter summaries should be with you shortly!
If you - or someone you know who you feel has relevant expertise - would be keen to contribute to a white-paper, even if it was not a workshop you participated in, please sign up below!
NEW COLLABORATIONS
We intend to work with corporations/larger institutions to advance women’s health (partnering on research projects/surveys on state of women’s health internally within corporations, identifying gaps in strategy, communication etc.)
We are currently compiling our roadmap for the year so if you haven’t reached out already & would like to suggest or refer a collaboration/ call to action — now’s the time at contact@femtechnology.org
Recap of the workshop topics covered as we wait for the white-papers:
Financing Innovation In Women’s Health
Facilitated by Dr. Ana Rita da Costa & Pascal Joly of Catenion
What can be done to support innovation in Women’s health?
💰 Breaking Siloes in Basic Research
💰 Systematic Review to Identify Moonshots (where have companies been successful, where have there been great exits, what are the short mid and long-term points)
💰 Create a Health Economics & Positive Business Case to direct Funding
💰 Regulatory Incentives (what would a carrot in women’s health look like? R&D costs being tax-free? Longer patent-life? Would help create the business case)
Other therapeutic areas have managed to do it — so why shouldn’t it be possible for women’s health ?
Redesigning Healthcare with Women in Mind: a Lifecycle Perspective to Women’s Health
Facilitated by Paula Bellostas Muguerza, Aoife Mulhearne, Ridhi Thukral of Kearney
Kearney will be circulating a pledge for action in women’s health along with the white paper covering what was discussed in the workshop.
In the meantime, if you’d be inclined to share (either directly with us or publicly) we’d love to know: what immediate actions do you intend to take to drive change forward?
